Default See How Many Logical Fallacies You Find in This

I received this e-mail today. I think this was one of the people spamming and trolling on our on our site a couple days ago. What a sicko.

See how many logical fallacies you can find in this!
    *******************************

I believe that this was stated on your Abortion Debate Forum at the outset. This forum moderator has engaged in blatant altering of posts and slandering of individual posters on the forum. If the posts were found to contain any forbidden material they may have been censored or removed. What you have done is alter the posts in such a way as take make them obsene and slanderous. It might be noted in number of your rules..."24) We do not encourage newbies to start their own threads. If you have been an active member less than five days and you have less than ten posts, we reserve the right to boot you for starting new threads. Why this rule? Newbies have a tendency to charge in without taking note of the conversations already in progress." This statement says that you do not encourage new posts, The rule does not expressly forbid new posts. Your alterations show that your site does not engage in debate but itself promotes an agenda. You have engaged in religious bias against Catholics and people of faith. You have made unsupported claims about individuals belonging to an organization without proof. Take note that this site has been reported to news organizations as well as religious civil rights groups that may take note of your actions on this site. This email is not a threat of any kind of action against this site in any way. Simply a statement of facts.

-Neat how they overlooked the part that states: "we reserve the right to boot you for starting new threads." Selective reading at it's finest!

You have engaged in religious bias against Catholics and people of faith.
-They came in here and introduced themselves by insulting every non-Catholic on the planet, spammed aggressive diatribe against their opposition, and ignored the board rules. Yet, it's ADMIN who is in the wrong for not giving them special treatment and allowing them to break the rules at will. Interesting.

You have made unsupported claims about individuals belonging to an organization without proof.
-How can they be serious?? An entire group of people came in with screen names that loudly proclaimed them to be c.a.t.h.o.l.i.c entered the abortion debate forum and immediately began proselytizing their religion! I believe that's sufficient enough proof, but what they fail to see is that their religion wasn't WHY they were booted, their actions were.

Take note that this site has been reported to news organizations as well as religious civil rights groups that may take note of your actions on this site. This email is not a threat of any kind of action against this site in any way. Simply a statement of facts.
-Translation: "You wouldn't let us have our way so we're going to encourage a mass attack on your board and posters...oh, but I'm not threatening you." I suppose to them calling an airport and informing them that they intend to plant a bomb in the lobby wouldn't be considered a threat, either.

These are the kind of people who shout "discrimination" if they beat someone over the head with a bible and the abused person asks them to stop it.

Some people are just wacko - they jump into situations not knowing anything about it. I remember reading once that PCT was a big coverup and laundering device for the prochoice movement, while at the same time it was posted that PLT was the same for the prolife movement.

Vernon is Catholic. Vernon is prolife. Vernon speaks his mind, he even has his own forum!

Even Vernon made a post asking them to chill. And if you read his posts, you will see that he consistently and vehemently defends the Catholic faith. I have no problem with that, I don't think most of our members do either. These differing opinions are a GOOD thing to get us thinking. That was the original point of this site, to encourage discussion.

They probably believe that we poisoned poor Vernon's mind and that he's no more than a prochoice lapdog.

The sort of mentality they've displayed is "Either you're with us or against us", and I have my doubts now that they would even listen to a fellow Catholic.

It was admirable of Vernon to speak up and ask them to be reasonable. I disagree heavily with him most of the time, and other times I could cheerfully throttle him, but I have to give him a nod of respect for making a public observation and discouraging their trolling tactics. That took courage.

I think Vernon's approach is much more effective in the long run for conversion. But these bozos come bumbling along and undo the groundwork people like Vernon have laid down.

    Darkmoon,

While I don't think much of the things you post and I like George W, I do like that graphic of yours down at the bottom of your posts. "You keep using that word, etc." That's pretty funny. I'm sure my compliments don't mean *edit* to you. I just needed to get that off my chest and I wanted to hand it to you for a clever shot on my president.

Impeachment 2006, simone? You liberals don't have the guts, nor the grounds.

I just saw this on the front page:

    Note from Admin
This site is also a good study website for those studying the art of debating and logical fallacy. Because this is a highly emotionally charged subject, it’s fairly common to see regular postings that bend, twist and distort logic and fact.

Yikes! Are we all that bad? I feel like I'm an attraction at the logical fallacy zoo!

I'm Catholic too, and I'm rather glad I wasn't around to witness whatever prompted this e-mail. Like any large group, there are those of us who are crazy and those of us who keep our cool. Guess which faction gets the most attention?

If memory serves me correct, it was a coordinated group attack. They were convinced they had holy swords of truth and that this site was an evil abomination. It was very silly.
